John Tinniswood, the oldest known person in the world, has passed away at the age of 112 in his care home located in Southport, northwest England, as confirmed by Guinness World Records. His family reported that he was born in Liverpool on August 26, 1912, and he died on a Monday. Tinniswood attained the title of the world's oldest man in April, following the passing of 114-year-old Juan Vicente Perez from Venezuela. His relatives mentioned that he spent his final day surrounded by music and love, expressing gratitude to those who took care of him over the years.
"If you drink too much or you eat too much or you walk too much, if you do too much of anything, you're going to suffer eventually," he said.
During World War II, Tinniswood worked in an administrative capacity with the Royal Army Pay Corps and later pursued a career in accounting with prominent oil companies, Shell and BP. He was known for his unwavering support for the Liverpool soccer club and had a tradition of enjoying fish and chips every Friday. Colleagues at his care home often described him as a "big chatterbox," showcasing his vibrant personality. As Tinniswood's legacy is remembered, the oldest living woman in the world is currently Tomiko Itooka from Japan, who is 116 years old.
