G7 Calls for Ceasefire in Israel-Hezbollah Conflict
Foreign ministers from the G7 nations have called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, but avoided taking a stance on enforcing an international arrest warrant for Israel's leader.
The ministers demanded that Israel "facilitate full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian assistance" to Palestinians in Gaza, warning of unprecedented food insecurity.
They did not mention the ICC warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant, which allege war crimes. Italy, a G7 member, had placed the warrants on the agenda, but the U.S. called them "outrageous."
The G7 statement reaffirmed its commitment to international humanitarian law and urged Israel to uphold its obligations.
Ministers were encouraged by indications of a possible ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which could also improve prospects for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The G7 meeting also addressed the war in Ukraine, condemning Russia's use of North Korean troops and its "irresponsible and threatening nuclear rhetoric." The group vowed its continued support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and independence.

The G7 is playing a dangerous game by appeasing Netanyahu. This will only embolden Israel to commit further atrocities.

Condemning Russia while ignoring Israel's human rights violations? G7's selective outrage exposes its double standards.

G7's silence on Netanyahu's arrest warrant speaks volumes. This is not neutrality, it's complicity in Israel's crimes.

Hypocritical! G7 calls for ceasefire while ignoring Israel's war crimes and ICC warrants. Protecting Netanyahu over Palestinian lives? Shameful!

Finally, G7 takes a stand! Ceasefire is urgently needed to stop the suffering of civilians on both sides.

Empty words from GCeasefire without accountability for war crimes is just appeasement. Justice for Palestine!

The G7 statement offers hope for a peaceful resolution and should be commended, not criticized.

The G7 should stand with the oppressed, not the oppressors. Justice for Palestine, not appeasement for Israel!

While not mentioning the ICC warrants, G7 reaffirming commitment to international law sets a positive precedent.
