Kamala Harris on Cognitive Tests, Border Security, and Immigration
Vice President Kamala Harris has indicated her willingness to undergo a cognitive test, a suggestion initially proposed by former President Donald Trump. During an interview with CBS Evening News, Harris responded to Trump's claims about her mental capacity, stating, "Sure, I would take a cognitive test. I would challenge him to take the same one." She further described Trump as "increasingly unstable and unhinged."
Trump, in a podcast interview with Joe Rogan, advocated for mandatory cognitive testing for presidential candidates. He specifically mentioned Harris, stating, "I think Kamala should have a test because there's something missing, there's something wrong with her."
Republicans have consistently criticized the Biden administration's handling of the border crisis. The National Border Patrol Council, a union representing border patrol agents, recently endorsed Trump.
Harris, however, has outlined her own approach to border security. Drawing on her experience as attorney general of California, a border state, she emphasized the need to address transnational criminal organizations and provide support to Border Patrol. "When I am president, we will quickly remove those who arrive here unlawfully, prosecute the cartels, and give Border Patrol the support they so desperately need," she declared.
While advocating for stricter border security measures, Harris also acknowledged the importance of immigration reform. She expressed her commitment to working with Congress to pass legislation that includes an earned path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, such as farmworkers and Dreamers.
