Neighbor Accused of Killing Newlywed Nurse Evicted from Apartment Complex
Jonathan Bryce Schubert, the neighbor accused of killing newlywed nurse Melissa Jubane, has been evicted from their shared Oregon apartment complex. The eviction was filed by the landlord as Schubert stands trial for Jubane's murder.
Attorneys for the apartment complex in Beaverton filed an eviction lawsuit against Schubert and his roommate on October 15th. The lawsuit claims that Schubert's actions constitute an "act which is outrageous in the extreme," justifying his eviction. The specific details of the lawsuit remain confidential.
Schubert was arrested on September 6th and is accused of murdering Jubane, who had been reported missing two days earlier. Investigators believe that Schubert kidnapped and harmed Jubane before killing her. Court documents also state that Schubert was "deliberately cruel" to Jubane and used a weapon, resulting in permanent injury prior to her death.
Following a three-day search, Jubane's remains were found just two weeks after her wedding in Hawaii. Schubert worked as a nurse at a different Providence hospital than Jubane, and it is still unclear if they knew each other.
Schubert is currently being held without bail at the Washington County jail. He faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and second-degree abuse of a corpse. Prosecutors intend to seek a jury trial, and a trial date has not yet been released.
