Trans Mountain to Shut Down Puget Sound Pipeline for Maintenance
Trans Mountain, a Canadian government-owned oil pipeline operator, announced on Friday that it will be shutting down the Puget Sound Pipeline for approximately seven days in mid-November for planned maintenance. The shutdown will affect the section of the pipeline running from Laurel to Anacortes, Washington.
The Puget Sound Pipeline connects to the Trans Mountain Pipeline at the Sumas delivery point in British Columbia. It's important to note that this pipeline is separate from the recently opened Trans Mountain expansion project.
The Puget Sound Pipeline transports Canadian oil to four refineries, including Marathon Petroleum's Anacortes refinery and Phillips 66's Ferndale refinery, both located on the western side of Washington State. This 111-kilometer pipeline system has a capacity of approximately 240,000 barrels per day.
