A Glimpse into China's Strategies
The Organisation for Research on China and Asia (ORCA) hosted its second Global Conference on New Sinology (GCNS) in New Delhi, titled "The Art of Power in Zhongnanhai." This two-day event brought together scholars, government representatives, and civil society groups to discuss China's elite party politics, military strategy, economic developments, and foreign policy, with a particular focus on China-India relations.
Over 50 distinguished speakers from various countries participated in the conference, engaging in critical discussions on topics such as China's military modernization, elite political control, and economic challenges.
Key sessions explored China's expanding military capabilities, the workings of the Chinese Communist Party, and the country's economic strategies. Discussions also covered China's foreign policy, including its soft power tools and the Belt and Road Initiative.
Special sessions addressed China's strategic objectives in the Himalayan region and its growing involvement with the Global South, drawing comparisons with India's approach.
The GCNS provided a platform for deep analysis of China's strategies and facilitated discussions on the implications of China's rise in Asia and beyond.
