Napoli secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Monza at home on Sunday, solidifying their position at the top of the Serie A standings. First-half goals from Matteo Politano and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia proved decisive for the revitalized Napoli side.
Napoli's dominance was evident from the start, as they remained unbeaten at home this season with three wins. Their relentless pressure paid off in the 22nd minute when Politano capitalized on a Monza error to fire the ball into the far post. This goal marked Politano as one of only three players to have scored in each of the last 10 Serie A seasons.
Kvaratskhelia doubled Napoli's lead in the 33rd minute with a clinical volley. Monza goalkeeper Stefano Turati's misdirected pass was intercepted by Napoli midfielder Frank Anguissa, who set up Kvaratskhelia for the easy finish.
Despite their best efforts, Monza failed to recover from their first-half mistakes. Napoli continued to control the tempo of the game after the break, with Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay coming close to scoring for the visitors.
Napoli had several opportunities to extend their lead, but substitute Giacomo Raspadori and David Neres narrowly missed the target. The win extended Monza's winless streak in Serie A to 15 games, leaving them second from bottom in the standings.
Napoli, on the other hand, will look to continue their impressive form when they host Cesc Fabregas's Como on Friday.
