China's National Day Holiday to Bring Sunny Skies and Cooler Temperatures
The upcoming National Day holiday in China will be marked by sunny weather across most of the country, though temperatures are expected to be 1-3 degrees Celsius cooler than usual, according to the China Meteorological Administration (CMA).
At a news conference on Sunday, Jia Xiaolong, deputy director of the National Climate Center, stated that southern North China, southeastern Northwest China, and eastern Southwest China will experience particularly pleasant conditions for nighttime activities between October 1st and 7th.
However, Jia cautioned that atmospheric conditions in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region could worsen between October 4th and 7th, potentially reducing visibility.
"Temperatures will remain low across much of the country from October 1st to 3rd, with some areas in Northwest China, northern North China, and the Changbai Mountains in Northeast China seeing lows drop to 0 degrees Celsius or below," Jia said, noting significant temperature differences between day and night in these regions.
By October 6th, cold air will push into northern areas, bringing light to moderate rain to parts of eastern Northwest China and North China.
The CMA forecasts significant temperature fluctuations in October. Most of the country, except for the plateau regions, will experience colder-than-usual temperatures in the first half of the month. Warmer-than-usual temperatures are expected to return to northern regions in mid to late October, while southern areas will see conditions closer to the historical average.
Jia also warned that October's cold spells and frost could negatively affect autumn crops, potentially leading to yield reductions.
