City Held, Arsenal Win, Palmer Shines
Manchester City's title hopes suffered a blow as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Newcastle. The absence of Rodri, who is out for the season with a knee injury, was keenly felt as City lacked their usual control and poise. Anthony Gordon's second-half penalty earned Newcastle a deserved point.
Meanwhile, Arsenal moved level on points with City after a dramatic 4-2 win against Leicester. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard put Arsenal in control, but James Justin's brace brought Leicester level. However, a late own goal from Wilfred Ndidi and a Kai Havertz strike secured the win for the Gunners.
Chelsea enjoyed a resounding 4-2 victory over Brighton thanks to a stunning four-goal performance from Cole Palmer. The young forward became the first player ever to score four goals in the first half of a Premier League match. Brighton took the lead through Georginio Rutter, but Palmer equalized before converting a penalty and curling in a brilliant free-kick. Carlos Baleba pulled one back for Brighton, but Palmer completed his incredible afternoon with another goal.
West Ham salvaged a 1-1 draw at Brentford after falling behind to Bryan Mbeumo's early goal. Tomas Soucek's second-half equalizer prevented a fourth defeat in five games for the Hammers.
Everton finally ended their winless start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace. Dwight McNeil scored twice in the second half to secure the win for the Toffees, who were recently taken over by a group led by American billionaire Dan Friedkin.
Liverpool can go top of the table with a win at Wolves in Saturday's late game.
