In Santa Ana, California, a serious incident involving six firefighters occurred when their truck overturned as they were returning from firefighting operations. This event took place on California State Route 241, just north of Portola Hills, after the vehicle swerved due to a ladder obstructing the road, leading it to collide with a guardrail.
According to Orange County Fire Authority Chief Brian Fennessy, eight firefighters were injured in total, although two have since been released from the hospital. Dr. Humberto Sauri, who oversees trauma services at Orange County Global Hospital, reported that one firefighter is in critical but stable condition, while another is in a more serious state described as "quite critical." The California Highway Patrol, meanwhile, is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Some firefighters were transported by helicopter, while others were taken to medical facilities by ambulance for urgent care.
