A resident of Zhejiang Province, situated in East China, has reported serious eye issues after attempting to use a fascia gun for an unconventional purpose—massaging his eyes. According to a report from China's state broadcaster CCTV, the man had been experiencing a gradual decline in his vision over the past year but did not perceive it as severe enough to warrant medical attention until his eyesight became exceedingly blurry.
Upon visiting an ophthalmological clinic, doctors found that his visual acuity had deteriorated to 0.1 in both eyes. The diagnosis revealed cataracts and signs of lens dislocation. The patient often endured headaches and noted fatigue as well as soreness around his eyes, which led him to periodically use the fascia gun in hopes of alleviating discomfort.
In his case, there was no history of trauma or identifiable causes that could have led to lens dislocation. Medical professionals suggested that the high-frequency vibrations produced by the fascia gun could have interfered with the suspensory ligament supporting his eyes, resulting in the impairment. This incident is not unique, as another woman from Fujian Province sought treatment for similar issues related to the use of a fascia gun on her eye area, leading to comparable symptoms of cataracts and significant vision loss.
