The Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China announced that a second meeting for the Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s will take place soon. Scheduled for September 4 to 6, the meeting will be co-chaired by John Podesta, who serves as the Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy, and Liu Zhenmin, China's special envoy for climate change.
During this meeting, both nations aim to engage in detailed discussions regarding practical collaboration within the group. They will also address domestic climate policy initiatives and explore multilateral strategies to combat climate change. The Working Group was established earlier this year in January 2024, following agreements made during a meeting between the two leaders in San Francisco, with the goal of enhancing cooperation in climate action.
