A tragedy struck in Leicestershire when an 80-year-old named Bhim Kohli was fatally attacked while walking his dog in Franklin Park, just moments away from his home. The unfortunate incident occurred on a Sunday evening, prompting a swift murder investigation by local authorities after Kohli sustained serious injuries leading to his death.

The post-mortem examination revealed that Kohli died due to injuries sustained to his neck, with further tests pending to gather more information. The Crown Prosecution Service has since reviewed the evidence provided by the Leicestershire Police and has charged a 14-year-old boy with murder, who is scheduled to appear in Leicester Youth Court this Thursday.

During the incident, Kohli was reportedly dressed in a black jumper and grey jogging bottoms as he walked his dog, Rocky. Initially, five children were arrested on murder suspicion, but only the 14-year-old remained in custody after the other four were released without further action.

Kohli's family expressed their sorrow, highlighting his roles as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, deeply cherished by his grandchildren. They described him as a caring person whose life revolved around his family and noted his passion for gardening, which he enjoyed at his allotment, as well as his daily walks with Rocky.

Emphasizing his character, the family shared that Kohli was known for his laughter and warmth, often bringing joy to those around him. They have lived in the Braunstone community for four decades, where he was a well-known figure. In their time of grief, the family has requested privacy to support one another through the heartbreaking ordeal.

Andrew Baxter, of the Crown Prosecution Service, reiterated the importance of fairness in the upcoming trial, cautioning against any actions that could jeopardize the legal proceedings surrounding the case.
