On a Friday night, just as they were about to enjoy dinner, an Arizona couple experienced a terrifying moment when a car barreled into their living room. Marcus Holmberg and Sabrina Rivera were lucky to emerge with only minor injuries and cuts when the vehicle crashed through their house around 10:30 p.m., as reported by the Phoenix Police Department.
Security cameras inside the couple's home captured the shocking incident, showing the car crashing through the wall just inches away from where they were seated, sending dust and debris flying around them and their dogs. Fortunately, all of their pets survived the wreck, though Holmberg was seen searching for them amidst the destruction of their living space.
Authorities have stated that the driver, an 18-year-old believed to have been driving under the influence, has been taken into custody. According to Holmberg, the damage caused by the collision was so severe that it shifted their entire house off its foundation, leading to an estimated $30,000 in repair costs.
In an effort to assist with the expenses, the couple has launched a GoFundMe page to gather funds for repairs, mentioning their struggles with insurance claims. Holmberg described the harrowing moment to the media, likening the crash to a bomb explosion due to its sudden and violent nature.
Rivera expressed concerns for their dogs, noting they appeared "sore and scared" but thankfully suffered no major injuries. She anticipates a visit to the veterinarian when finances allow. On social media, Holmberg expressed gratitude that they survived, while condemning the driver's reckless behavior while under the influence. He attributed part of their survival to his truck, which took the brunt of the impact and potentially saved Rivera's life by preventing the car from hitting her directly.
