The shooting began shortly after classes started, prompting an immediate response from the Barrow County Sheriff's Office at around 10:20 a.m., following reports of an active shooter situation.
Sheriff Jud Smith informed the media that law enforcement, along with two school resource officers already present at the school, arrived swiftly at the scene. Upon encountering Gray, the suspect surrendered to the authorities without resisting arrest and was subsequently taken into custody.
In addition to those who lost their lives, at least nine others were injured in the shooting and have been transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
