Bloomberg Allegedly Scraps Promotion of Olivia Nuzzi's Show After Backlash
Bloomberg reportedly scrapped its promotional plans for journalist Olivia Nuzzi's new television show, "Working Capital," following a backlash from the left. This decision came after Nuzzi published a controversial article highlighting concerns about President Biden's mental decline.
Nuzzi's show, which premiered in July, featured interviews with prominent figures in politics and business, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Governor Chris Sununu, and Mark Cuban. However, following the publication of her article, some online critics resurfaced old tweets from Nuzzi, claiming they were evidence of racism and demanding her dismissal from Bloomberg.
Nuzzi expressed disappointment in Bloomberg's response to the criticism, stating that she had faced similar accusations from both the left and the right depending on the content of her reporting. She defended her old tweets, arguing that concealing them would be dishonest and that she strives to understand and engage with complex issues, even if they are controversial.
Despite the controversy, "Working Capital" concluded its first season in August. It remains unclear whether the show will be renewed for a second season. Bloomberg has not commented on the matter.
Nuzzi's article on Biden's mental decline sparked significant debate, with some Democrats expressing concern about his ability to serve another term. The controversy ultimately contributed to Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race, paving the way for Vice President Kamala Harris to become the Democratic nominee.
