The China Coast Guard issued a statement on Sunday urging the Philippines to stop its "infringing actions" after a Philippine vessel illegally entered waters near Xianbin Reef in the Nansha Islands and collided with a Chinese coast guard vessel.
The statement said that the Philippine vessel, identified as No. 3002, approached Xianbin Reef without permission from the Chinese government and engaged in dangerous maneuvers as it approached Chinese Coast Guard vessels conducting normal navigation missions.
China Coast Guard spokesman Gan Yu said that the Philippine vessel's actions prompted the Chinese Coast Guard to implement control measures. At 2:12 pm, the Philippine vessel disregarded warnings from China and collided with Chinese Coast Guard vessel No. 21551 in an "unprofessional and dangerous manner," according to Gan Yu.
The China Coast Guard warned the Philippines to cease its "provocative infringement" and stated that the Philippines would bear full responsibility for any consequences.
