In Bangladesh, the recent flooding has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with the death toll climbing to 71 as of September 3. The floods, caused by continuous monsoon rains and water runoff from upstream, have created catastrophic conditions over the last two weeks, impacting approximately five million individuals.

Currently, over 580,000 families remain stranded across 11 districts severely affected by the flooding and require immediate assistance, including food, clean water, medical supplies, and dry clothing. To address the health crisis, nearly 500 medical teams are actively engaged in providing care, while various branches of the military, including the army, air force, and navy, are contributing to the ongoing relief efforts.

Authorities are particularly concerned about the potential outbreak of waterborne diseases, which are a frequent consequence of such disasters. Therefore, efforts are now concentrated on ensuring access to clean drinking water and mitigating health risks associated with the aftermath of the floods.
