On Monday morning in central Tokyo, a significant safety incident occurred at a demolition site, where a security guard was rendered unconscious after being hit by a falling piece of concrete. This unfortunate event took place in Minato Ward, where the guard had been overseeing traffic. He was subsequently rushed to the hospital with visible head injuries.
The piece of concrete, reportedly from the fifth-floor exterior wall, fell through an enclosure surrounding the construction site. A colleague who was present during the incident noted that the wall's sudden collapse led to the concrete plummeting to the ground, which raised alarms about the potential danger to pedestrians nearby. The demolition project, which began in April, is expected to make way for a new 12-story office building slated to begin construction in January of the following year.

I worry for the future of the area with such reckless construction practices. We need change!

I can’t believe this is the state of construction safety today. How did we even reach this point?

Concrete doesn't just fall for no reason. Clearly, there was a failure in safety standards!

This could have been so much worse; we need to demand better oversight for these projects!

Imagine if a pedestrian had been hit instead. This is why we need to hold these companies accountable.
