Kamala Harris Poised to Become Democratic Nominee in Virtual Roll Call
With the Democratic National Convention just two weeks away, the party's virtual roll call is underway, paving the way for Kamala Harris to officially become the party's nominee for Vice President.
The roll call vote, which runs through August 5th, is a formality as Harris is expected to run unopposed. The virtual format ensures that she meets state deadlines for ballot placement.
During the roll call, each voting delegate will receive a personalized and watermarked form to cast their vote within 24 hours. The DNC will then tally the votes and share the results after the roll call closes.
This virtual process mirrors the 2020 convention, which also went virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It allows for multiple rounds of voting if needed, but Harris is expected to secure the necessary majority of 1,976 pledged delegates on the first ballot.
While Joe Biden officially endorsed Harris as his successor, the delegates did not automatically transfer their support. Under convention rules, they are now free agents, though Harris appears to have already secured the required delegate support.
Several state delegations, including Texas and California, confirmed their support for Harris shortly after Biden's announcement. With the virtual roll call underway, Harris is poised to officially become the Democratic nominee for Vice President at the upcoming convention in Chicago.

Can we trust someone who didn't even win her own state in the primaries? This feels like a forced decision.

This virtual roll call is just a formality. If it's that easy, what's the point of primaries?

Harris might secure the votes, but that doesn’t mean she has the experience necessary for such a hefty role.

Harris has shown she can connect with the younger generation. She’s just what we need for this election!

Kamala Harris is qualified and ready to take on the Vice Presidency. She's proven herself time and again.

We should focus on electability. Harris has not resonated well with moderate voters.

Kamala Harris represents more of the same establishment politics that people are tired of. We deserve better!
