The War of Words Between Maduro and Musk
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and billionaire Elon Musk are engaged in a heated war of words, with each accusing the other of being behind attacks against Venezuela. The animosity stems from their opposing ideologies, with Maduro, a socialist, despising the ultra-capitalist Musk, a supporter of Donald Trump.
Maduro claims that Musk is responsible for "attacks against Venezuela" and possibly the mastermind of an alleged "computer hacking" at the National Electoral Council (CNE). He has formed a special committee, aided by Russian and Chinese experts, to investigate the alleged biosecurity and communications systems attacks.
Musk, in turn, has criticized Maduro's policies on his social network X and expressed support for opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. He has also called Maduro a "dictator" and shared a US Drug Enforcement Administration announcement offering a $15 million reward for information leading to Maduro's arrest.
Maduro has responded by accusing Musk of wanting to "invade Venezuela" and "control the world." He claims that Musk is "obsessed with the idea of taking over Venezuela and ruling it from abroad."
The war of words has escalated further, with Musk calling Maduro an "ass" and later apologizing for insulting the animal kingdom.
The conflict between Maduro and Musk highlights the deep political divisions in Venezuela and the international implications of the country's ongoing crisis.
