This progress is evident in their efforts to protect personal information and address criminal activities in the food and drug industries.
Prosecutorial organs have taken a strong stance against the production and sale of harmful food and counterfeit drugs. In the first half of the year, they indicted 4,918 individuals involved in such activities, demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding public health and safety.
Recognizing the importance of personal data protection, procuratorial organs have initiated prosecutions against 3,136 individuals for abuse of personal information. Additionally, they have filed 2,615 public interest litigations in this area, highlighting their proactive approach to protecting citizens' privacy rights.
Procuratorates have actively defended the rights of workers by indicting 571 individuals for deliberately withholding wages. They have also successfully recovered over 71 million yuan ($9.96 million) in unpaid wages, ensuring that workers receive fair compensation for their labor.
In the first six months, procuratorial organs handled 959 public interest litigations related to women's rights and interests. These cases focused on issues such as equal employment opportunities and special rights for female employees, contributing to a more equitable and inclusive society.
Demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding vulnerable populations, procuratorial organs indicted 33,000 individuals for crimes against minors during the same period. This decisive action underscores their dedication to protecting children from harm and ensuring their well-being.
Through these initiatives, procuratorates across China have made substantial progress in enhancing judicial protection for people's well-being. Their efforts to combat criminal activities, safeguard personal information, protect workers' rights, promote gender equality, and defend minors are commendable and contribute significantly to creating a safer and more just society for all.
