Ukrainian military officials reported that Russian troops have successfully seized two front-line villages in the eastern Donetsk region, an area currently under strain from a summer offensive by the Kremlin aimed at breaching Ukrainian defenses. Sergeant Oleh Chaus from the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade conveyed that the Russian forces applied relentless pressure to capture the villages of Vovche and Prohres and deployed previously unused troops in substantial numbers.

While Russia's Defense Ministry claimed these villages are now under its control, the Ukrainian General Staff has yet to issue an official response. Located approximately 30 kilometers northwest of Avdiivka, which the Russian army captured earlier this year, these villages have become focal points in the ongoing conflict as Russian forces continue their aggressive strategy, overpowering Ukrainian defenses and forcing them to retreat to evade casualties.

Oleksandr Shyrshyn, the 47th brigade's deputy battalion commander, attributed the setbacks to inadequate training, poor officer capabilities, and insufficient weaponry among Ukrainian troops. President Volodymyr Zelensky characterized the situation in the Donetsk region as extremely difficult, reflecting the pressing challenges faced by Ukrainian forces.

On another front, Russian forces have stepped up their efforts to penetrate Ukrainian defenses around Pokrovsk, launching a record number of attacks in a single day. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have reported successful operations in Russia's Kursk region, targeting substations that have resulted in significant power outages, thereby disrupting the logistics of the Russian military infrastructure.

The Ukrainian General Staff has stated that these targeted strikes were executed by operatives from the Security Service of Ukraine, alongside other components of their defense forces, aiming to impair Russia's capability to transport military supplies. Russia's ministry affirmed that its air defenses intercepted a series of drones launched by Ukraine, resulting in damage to several infrastructure sites within Russia.
