American golfer Lauren Coughlin claimed her first LPGA Tour title at the 2024 CPKC Women's Open, held at Earl Grey Golf Club. Coughlin finished the four-day tournament at 13 under par, securing the victory with a final round of one-under 71. This win marks a significant milestone for Coughlin in her 103rd career LPGA tournament since her rookie season in 2018.
Saigo and Ryu Finish Close Behind
Japan's Mao Saigo finished the tournament in second place at 11 under par, one stroke behind Coughlin. Saigo had a remarkable performance on Saturday, setting a new tournament and course record with an 11-under 61. Haeran Ryu of South Korea finished in a tie for third place at 10 under par, alongside her compatriot Jenny Shin.
Strong Performance by Canadian Golfers
Canadian golfers Brooke Henderson and Alena Sharp both had impressive finishes at the Canadian Open. Henderson climbed the leaderboard with a final round of four-under 68, finishing in a four-way tie for eighth place at six under. Sharp also carded a 68 in the final round, moving her up into a tie for 14th place at four under. Both Henderson and Sharp will represent Canada in the women's golf competition at the Paris Olympics.
Other Notable Performances
Maude-Aimée Leblanc of Sherbrooke, Que., finished in a tie for 19th place at three under. Ellie Szeryk of London, Ont., tied for 59th place at seven over, while Savannah Grewal of Mississauga, Ont., finished the tournament at 11 over.
