SpaceX Resumes Launches with Successful Weekend Tripleheader, Paving Way for Upcoming Missions
SpaceX Resumes Launches After Successful Weekend
SpaceX successfully launched three Falcon 9 rockets over the weekend, marking a triumphant return to flight after a brief hiatus due to an in-flight failure in July. The launches deployed a total of 67 Starlink satellites into orbit, bolstering the company's internet constellation.
The first launch took place early Saturday from the Kennedy Space Center, carrying 23 Starlink satellites. A second launch followed shortly after from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, deploying another 23 satellites. The third Falcon 9 lifted off a few hours later from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, completing the successful trifecta.
These launches pave the way for upcoming missions, including a Northrop Grumman Cygnus supply ship launch to the International Space Station on August 3rd and a SpaceX Crew Dragon flight carrying astronauts to the station around August 18th.
Meanwhile, Boeing also achieved progress with its Starliner capsule, successfully test-firing maneuvering thrusters that had previously encountered issues. The tests confirmed the thrusters' functionality and stability of the helium system, paving the way for the capsule's eventual return to Earth.
The successful weekend launches and test firings mark a positive step forward for both SpaceX and Boeing, as they continue to develop their respective spacecraft and prepare for future missions.
