Prime Minister Modi Addresses Indian Community in Vienna

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a community event in Vienna, Austria, on July 11, 2023. He expressed his gratitude to Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer for the warm welcome and acknowledged the historic occasion of 75 years of friendship between the two nations.

Modi highlighted the significance of his visit, being the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Austria in 41 years. He thanked Labour and Economy Minister Martin Kocher for his presence, emphasizing the importance of the Indian community in Austria.

Despite their geographical distance, Modi emphasized the strong connection between India and Austria, built on shared values of democracy, liberty, equality, and respect for the rule of law. He drew parallels between the two countries' multicultural and multilingual societies and their commitment to celebrating diversity.

Modi mentioned the recent general elections in India, where over 650 million people voted, showcasing the efficiency of India's electoral machinery and democratic system. He also highlighted the participation of over 8000 candidates from hundreds of political parties, demonstrating the diverse and competitive nature of the elections.

Expressing gratitude for his government's re-election for a third consecutive term, Modi stated that this decision is proof of India's desire for stability and continuity. He emphasized the importance of continuing the policies and programs implemented over the past 10 years, ensuring good governance and dedication to achieving ambitious goals.
