China Sees Surge in Foreign Arrivals with Visa-Free Policies
Beijing, July 10, 2024 - Foreign travelers are increasingly taking advantage of China's visa-free transit policies, with the number of visa-free entries exceeding 8.54 million in the first half of 2024. This represents a significant increase of 190.1% compared to the same period last year.
The 72/144-hour transit visa-free policies are available to citizens of 54 countries at 38 ports across 18 provinces in China. These policies have contributed to a substantial rise in inbound trips by foreigners, with a total of 14.64 million recorded in the first half of the year. This marks a 152.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The National Immigration Administration (NIA) attributes this surge to the measures introduced since January 2024, which have made it easier for foreign travelers to visit China. The significant increase in visa-free entries demonstrates the effectiveness of these measures in attracting more foreign visitors to the country.
