A violent incident occurred at Adventureland Amusement Park on Long Island, New York, leaving one man seriously injured. The altercation involved two families who got into a dispute in front of the Mystery Mansion ride. During the argument, Daniel Tomasky, 42, allegedly stabbed his acquaintance James Burns, 47, in the stomach.
Four children, including Tomasky's five-year-old son, witnessed the attack. Burns was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. He remains in a critical but stable condition.
Tomasky was arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause serious injury, criminal possession of a weapon, and child endangerment. He faces five to 25 years in prison if convicted. Prosecutors requested a $100,000 bail, citing Tomasky's six prior convictions.
Tomasky's lawyer argued for a lower bail and claimed that the victim had attacked Tomasky's wife during the altercation. The judge set bail at $100,000 and issued protective orders for the three minor witnesses and Burns.
The incident has shaken the community and raised concerns about violence in public spaces. Witnesses expressed sadness and frustration that such an event could occur at a family amusement park. The park released a statement saying that security responded to the incident and that the area was briefly closed but has since reopened.
