Social media influencer Summer Wheaton, known for her wellness advocacy, was driving a 2019 Mercedes Benz on the Fourth of July after leaving an event at Nobu when her car crossed the center median and collided head-on with a 2020 Cadillac. Authorities from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have stated that the cause of the crash is currently unknown and being looked into as part of an investigation.
Wheaton, whose Instagram account with over 102,000 followers is now private, was involved in the tragic collision that took place after she departed from the Nobu restaurant. Following the crash, both Wheaton and a passenger from the Cadillac were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Cadillac unfortunately lost their life at the scene, as reported by authorities. The events leading up to the collision occurred on the night of Bootsy Bellows' annual "Red, White and Bootsy" event, where guests such as Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, and Mike Tyson were seen dressed in all-white attire and enjoying Belvedere Vodka.
Despite Malibu officials rejecting Nobu’s permit request for the event due to safety concerns, the party continued, leading to the unfortunate accident on the Pacific Coast Highway. The tragedy prompted Malibu Mayor Steve Uhring to express deep sadness over the loss of life and highlight the importance of ongoing safety efforts on the highway. As investigations into the crash continue, both authorities and representatives from Bootsy Bellows and Nobu have been contacted for further details on the incident.
