Modi's Message of Peace in Moscow

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful message of peace to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow on Tuesday, July 9th. This marked Modi's first visit to Russia since the start of the Ukraine offensive in February 2022.

Modi emphasized the devastating impact of war, particularly on innocent civilians. He stated, "When innocent children are murdered, one sees them die, the heart pains and that pain is unbearable." He further stressed that war cannot solve problems and that solutions can only be found through dialogue and peaceful means.

Putin acknowledged Modi's concerns and expressed appreciation for India's efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian crisis. He stated, "You are trying to find some ways to solve the Ukrainian crisis, too, of course primarily by peaceful means."

Modi's visit to Moscow came amidst heightened tensions following Russia's massive barrage across Ukraine on Monday, which resulted in numerous casualties and widespread condemnation. Despite this backdrop, Modi's message of peace and his commitment to finding a peaceful resolution through dialogue remain crucial.
