Sixteen-year-old Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to score in a World Cup or Euros with a stunning goal against France. He helped Spain come from behind to win 2-1 and reach the final of Euro 2024.
Yamal's goal was described as "a touch of genius" by his coach Luis de la Fuente. Yamal said he was happy with the victory and reaching the final, but he didn't know if it was the best goal of the tournament. He said the most special thing for him was reaching the final with the national team.
Yamal has been a key player for Spain at Euro 2024, helping them win all six of their matches. They are now within reach of a record-breaking fourth Euros title.
Yamal's goal was the perfect reply to an earlier remark by French midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who had reportedly said that Yamal would have to do much more against Les Bleus if he wanted to play in the final. Yamal ran to a television camera after the match and yelled "speak now, speak now". He declined to say who he was talking to, but said that the person would know who they were.
