Russian Missile Attack Hits Ukrainian Cities, Killing Dozens
A recent devastating Russian missile attack on Ukraine led to the loss of lives and injuries in various Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Dnipro, and Kryvyi Rih. President Zelensky, in response to the attack that claimed the lives of three children, criticized Russia for the brutal assault and urged the international community to unite in stopping the ongoing violence. The strike, which hit the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv, resulted in the death of a doctor and the destruction of a dialysis facility, forcing patients and staff to evacuate to safety.
Despite Russian Defense Ministry claims of a major attack on Ukraine, they denied targeting civilian infrastructure. Zelensky, however, emphasized the need for concrete actions beyond expressions of concern or compassion, urging for the shooting down of Russian missiles and destruction of combat aircraft to ensure security. The British Prime Minister, newly elected Keir Starmer, denounced the attack as depraved and pledged support to Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.
The missile strikes occurred amidst diplomatic efforts related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with Zelensky engaging in discussions with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's diplomatic efforts in Beijing, Kyiv, and Moscow. Orban's diplomatic moves have drawn criticism from Ukraine's Western allies, who caution against complacency in the face of a cease-fire that could potentially allow Russian forces to regroup for further offensives.
