China's Commitment to Biodiversity Conservation
Chinese Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China's dedication to biodiversity conservation at the signing ceremony of the Kunming Biodiversity Fund in Beijing.
Guided by Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization, China has prioritized ecological, green, and low-carbon development, achieving significant results in biodiversity conservation. As the chair of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), China led the establishment of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and was the first country to fund the Kunming Biodiversity Fund.
Ding urged all parties to collaborate on strengthening biodiversity protection and building a community for all life on Earth. He emphasized the importance of supporting biodiversity conservation, sustainable utilization, and benefit sharing, aligning with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He called for practical actions to provide financial, technical, and capacity support for developing countries in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Additionally, he stressed the importance of adhering to multilateralism and international cooperation.
China welcomes contributions from countries, institutions, and organizations to the Kunming Biodiversity Fund, supporting the realization of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework's objectives.
