Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, and Olivia Henson tied the knot on Friday at Chester Cathedral in a grand ceremony attended by 400 guests. Thousands more lined the streets to witness the special occasion. The cathedral, located near the Grosvenor family home, Eaton Hall, holds a special significance for the couple. A spokesperson for the cathedral shared that the couple felt deeply connected to the cathedral and the city of Chester, given the Grosvenor family's long-standing ties to both. They were also touched by the well wishes they received from the region and expressed gratitude for the shared joy.
The wedding was filled with thoughtful details, reflecting the couple's personal preferences and heritage. Flowers for the ceremony were sourced locally through the Flowers from the Farm Network and will be repurposed into bouquets for local charities, churches, and other organizations. The groom arrived in a green Land Rover Defender, a vehicle favored by farmers and estate owners, hinting at Hugh's desire to embrace a "farming life of a country gentleman." He is one of the UK's largest landowners and the president of the Country Trust charity, which supports disadvantaged children in pursuing careers in agriculture.
Olivia's bridal look was equally impressive, showcasing a blend of tradition and personal style. Her veil, designed by Emma Victoria Payne, incorporated a piece of her great-great-grandmother's veil, dating back to around 1880. The flowers she carried were handpicked from the gardens of Eaton Hall. She also wore the traditional Faberge Myrtle Leaf Tiara, a family heirloom dating back to 1906, designed specifically for Grosvenor brides. The tiara, resembling a wreath of laurel or myrtle, a traditional wedding flower, was described by Royal jewellery expert The Court Jeweller as a stunning piece. However, Olivia opted for a modern touch with her footwear, choosing a pair of blue Valentina 100 Riviera heels by Silvia Lago.
Following the ceremony, guests were transported by coach to Eaton Hall for further celebrations. The afternoon reception featured a lemon wedding cake, while the evening party was kept private.
