Noelia Voigt and UmaSofia Srivastava, the reigning Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, resigned from their titles within days of each other. This has led to calls for more transparency from the Miss Universe Organization, which has faced controversy in the past.
Voigt, 24, was the first Venezuelan American to hold the Miss USA title. She said she hopes to continue inspiring others to prioritize their mental health and advocate for themselves and others.
Srivastava, 17, said her personal values no longer align with the direction of the organization. She thanked her family and fans and said she was glad to represent her state as a first-generation Mexican Indian American.
The Miss USA Organization said it respects and supports the decisions of both women. It said the well-being of its titleholders is a top priority and it understands their need to prioritize themselves at this time.
