Looking Up After Three Straight Losses
Naomi Osaka may have lost three matches in a row since returning from maternity leave, but the former world number one remains optimistic about her future.
"It definitely is hard for me to not be tough on myself," Osaka admitted, "but after Abu Dhabi I actually have more confidence in myself, which is a little strange."
Osaka sees these early losses as valuable learning experiences. "I feel like since I have seen the worst that can happen, everything else is a plus," she explained. "In Australia I knew that I said I was only going to play in Dubai, so I feel like I have to take these tournaments as extra credit."
With a positive attitude, Osaka is ready to face tough opponents like Caroline Garcia in the Qatar Open. "I learn more from the matches," she said. "So of course it's funny to hear I'm playing her again but I'm a little happy."
Osaka also finds comfort in knowing she shares a birthday with Garcia, both being Libras. "At the end of the day, a Libran is going to win," she declared with a smile.
