Two More Bodies Recovered from Rubble of Building in Belgorod Following Ukrainian Strike
Two more fatalities have been found underneath the debris of a multi-story building in Belgorod, bringing the total death toll to 17 individuals following an apartment block collapse triggered by a Ukrainian strike. After heavy shelling from Ukrainian forces on May 12, the city of Belgorod became a scene of tragedy, with the Russian Defense Ministry alleging that a Tochka-U tactical missile system and rocket launchers were deployed to carry out what they characterized as a deliberate attack on residential neighborhoods.
The Emergencies Ministry reported the discovery of a male and a female victim amid the rubble in a Telegram message. The devastation resulted from the interception of incoming projectiles by air defenses, which led to fragments from a downed Tochka-U missile striking a ten-story apartment building in Belgorod's Kharkovskaya Mountain residential area. This catastrophic event caused a section of the structure to collapse, trapping numerous residents underneath, with the initial discovery of 15 bodies on the scene and 17 more individuals hospitalized with various injuries. Furthermore, on the same day, three additional casualties were reported in Belgorod due to Ukrainian shelling in another part of the city, as stated by governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
