Cleaning Up for a Conducive Election
In preparation for Indonesia's upcoming election on February 14th, the environmental group Langit Biru Pertiwi (Motherland's Blue Sky) has launched a campaign to clean up election-related paraphernalia from the streets.
Nadia Mulya, a representative of Langit Biru Pertiwi, emphasized that the campaign is not politically motivated and has no affiliation with any political party or presidential candidate. "We gather here not for any political party or presidential candidate but for the Earth," she stated. "We're all inconvenienced by the presence of all this campaign paraphernalia and we aim to turn this waste into something more useful."
The campaign aims to create a cleaner and more conducive environment for the upcoming election, in which over 205 million voters across the country are expected to participate.
Langit Biru Pertiwi will collaborate with the Jakarta Environmental Agency and the city's Public Order Agency to collect and recycle the campaign materials. The collected materials will be transformed into various useful products, including tote bags and building materials.
