Idemitsu Tanker President and Taxi Driver Perish in Expressway Accident
A tragic accident on Saturday evening claimed the lives of Idemitsu Tanker Co. President Ichiro Matsuo and the driver of the taxi he was riding in. The incident occurred in the Tama River tunnel on the Metropolitan Expressway's Bay Shore Route in Ota Ward, Tokyo.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Expressway Traffic Police Unit, both the male taxi driver and the 61-year-old president from Yokohama were confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital.
While the cause of the accident remains under investigation, initial reports suggest that the taxi collided with the curb and overturned on a straight, three-lane road.
Adding to the mystery, Matsuo is believed to have suffered a severe blow to the chest, while the driver showed no noticeable injuries. This has led police to investigate the possibility that the driver died of an illness.
The sudden and unexpected loss of both individuals has left their families and colleagues in mourning. The accident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety.
