In a recent legal move, 49-year-old Miyuki Ariga, a stripper by profession, took legal action against an adult video website operator in Tokyo. The lawsuit, filed at the Tokyo District Court, accuses the website of showcasing pornographic movies in which Ariga appeared approximately three decades ago. The core of Ariga's complaint lies in the fact that she allegedly agreed for these adult films to be exhibited exclusively in movie theaters back in 1994. However, she discovered more than a decade ago that these movies were being distributed without her consent on DVD.
Referred to by her stage name, Miyuki Ariga, the plaintiff is not only pushing for the removal of the adult movies from the website but is also seeking compensation amounting to ¥1.5 million (equivalent to approximately $9,620). Ariga's contention centers on the violation of contractual terms; she asserts that the original agreement explicitly outlined that the films were meant for limited screening in designated theaters and not for commercial sale or distribution in other formats. The discrepancy between the agreed-upon terms and the actual exploitation of these films on digital platforms has prompted Ariga to take legal action to rectify what she perceives as an infringement of her rights.
