A Tourist Draw with Questions about Cost
A projection mapping show held on a skyscraper in Tokyo has attracted a significant number of visitors since its launch in February. The show, which is held every night, has drawn approximately 130,000 people to the area.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which is behind the project, hopes to establish the show as a major nighttime tourist attraction in the capital, particularly for international visitors. However, the project has also raised questions about its cost-effectiveness.
The show has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest permanent architectural projection mapping display. The project gained further attention in April when it began featuring 100-meter-tall, life-size Godzilla projections on weekends and holidays.
