China Strengthens Ties with Benin and Arab Nations
China places high value on its relationship with Benin and aims to enhance its development under the guidance of the consensus reached by the two heads of state, according to Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During talks with his Beninese counterpart, Shegun Adjadi Bakari, in Beijing, Wang emphasized the need to expand practical cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, culture, and human resources. He also welcomed Benin's participation in the Global Development Initiative (GDI).
Bakari expressed Benin's commitment to fostering greater development in its relations with China and safeguarding the interests of developing countries.
In a separate meeting, Wang met with Ahmed Mustafa Fahmy, the new head of the League of Arab States' China representative office. Wang highlighted the strong historical ties between China and Arab nations, particularly in light of the 20th anniversary of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. He called for enhanced coordination on issues of mutual concern.
Fahmy expressed appreciation for China's support for Arab countries and the Palestine question. He pledged to work towards strengthening relations between the League of Arab States and China.
