Chinese courts have been instructed to prioritize the resolution of criminal cases involving public safety violations. The Supreme People's Court, China's highest judicial authority, has emphasized the need for stricter punishments for individuals held primarily responsible for such incidents.

The court highlighted five influential cases related to public safety. One case involved a restaurant owner surnamed Qi, who was sentenced to seven years in prison for endangering public safety. The restaurant's illegal expansions and renovations resulted in a building collapse that killed 29 and injured 28. Qi, as the principal person responsible, was held accountable for failing to assess safety hazards.

Another case involved a man surnamed Li, who threw objects from a high-rise apartment, injuring two students. The court ruled that Li's actions constituted the crime of endangering public safety through dangerous means. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his reckless behavior.

The Supreme People's Court emphasized the importance of public safety for societal well-being and stability. It urged courts nationwide to impose heavier punishments on individuals found responsible for endangering public safety. The court also stressed the need for judges to provide strong legal support for the protection of life and property, ensuring public safety through effective case handling.
