Ma Ying-jeou Calls for Cooperation and Rejuvenation Across Taiwan Strait
Former Kuomintang Chairman Ma Ying-jeou emphasized the importance of cooperation between Taiwan and mainland China to prevent conflict and foster the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. During a visit to Sun Yat-sen's former residence in Guangdong province, Ma expressed his admiration for Sun's role in China's democratic revolution and his enduring influence on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Ma highlighted the shared heritage and identity of the people across the Strait, urging them to embrace Sun's teachings of peace, struggle, and national rejuvenation. He expressed his hope that both sides would work together to avoid war, promote peace, and create a prosperous future for the Chinese people.
The youth delegation accompanying Ma paid tribute to Sun's legacy by offering a flower basket at his statue. They also toured the former residence and learned about Sun's upbringing and revolutionary history.
Ma's visit included stops at BYD, China's leading electric vehicle manufacturer, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. At BYD, he inquired about the company's technology and the government's policies for promoting electric vehicles. He was informed that the extensive charging infrastructure, with over 6.6 million charging piles, was a key factor in encouraging their adoption.
At the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Ma and his group gained insights into its construction and operation.
