Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted law enforcement actions in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami as part of an ongoing investigation. In Miami, authorities seized phones from Sean "Diddy" Combs before his scheduled departure to the Bahamas.
The investigation follows allegations of physical and sexual abuse made against Combs by his former partner, Cassie Ventura, and three other women. Ventura filed a lawsuit under the New York Adult Survivors Act, and the other women have filed similar suits in the Southern District of New York.
Douglas Wigdor, representing Ventura and one of the Jane Does, expressed hope that the investigation would hold Combs accountable for his alleged conduct. An attorney for another accuser, Joi Dickerson-Neal, declined to comment. Combs has denied the allegations, calling them "sickening."
In addition to the sexual assault allegations, a former producer for Combs, Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones, filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment, drugging, and threats. Jones' attorney stated that the federal investigation would not hinder their pursuit of justice.
A resident of the Los Angeles neighborhood where a search was conducted expressed surprise at the activity he had witnessed at the home where Combs reportedly lived. He described seeing parties with numerous women present until early morning hours.
Combs has faced legal issues in the past, including a guilty plea for assault in 1999 and an acquittal of weapons charges in the same year. Since the recent allegations, he has stepped down from his position at Revolt and Hulu has withdrawn from a planned reality series about his family.
