The China Meteorological Administration recently announced that several provinces in Central and South China are gearing up for a period of wet weather during the Qingming Festival holiday. Over the next 10 days, regions like Guizhou, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Anhui, and Shanghai are in for overcast skies and substantial rainfall, with some areas anticipated to receive between 12 to 25 centimeters of precipitation.
In the days leading up to the holiday, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to sweep across central and eastern provinces, as well as parts of northern South China. The meteorological authority has issued warnings about possible torrential rainfall and severe convective weather hitting specific areas during this timeframe. Conversely, lighter rainfall is foreseen in the eastern regions of Northwest China, the western regions of North China, and the Yellow Sea area.
As the Qingming Festival approaches, the forecast indicates that from Thursday to Saturday, eastern areas, along with the central and northern parts of South China and eastern Guizhou, are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with some locations bracing for torrential downpours. Meanwhile, light rain is expected in other regions including the eastern parts of Northwest China, the Sichuan Basin in Southwest China, and the eastern areas of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau during this period.
