China's Defense Ministry has condemned the Philippines' actions regarding Ren'ai Reef in the South China Sea, urging them to cease all infringement and provocation. The ministry's spokesman, Wu Qian, stated that Philippine ships illegally entered the waters adjacent to Ren'ai Reef, attempting to transport supplies and construction materials to a military vessel grounded by the Philippines in 1999.

The China Coast Guard intercepted and expelled the Philippine vessels, thwarting their attempt to encroach on Chinese territory. Wu emphasized that China holds indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands, including Ren'ai Reef, and its adjacent waters. He warned the Philippines against escalating tensions and violating China's territorial integrity.

China expressed willingness to resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation but condemned the Philippines' bad faith actions. Wu stressed that China will not tolerate any attempts to reinforce the grounded military vessel into permanent facilities and will take resolute measures to defend its sovereignty and maritime rights.
