China has announced plans to enhance its healthcare services for children, focusing on improving accessibility to high-quality pediatric medical resources. The National Health Commission has outlined several initiatives to achieve this goal.
Firstly, China will establish two national and five regional children's medical centers. These centers will serve as specialized hubs for pediatric healthcare, providing advanced medical care and research facilities. Additionally, support will be provided for 67 key clinical specialties related to pediatric health, ensuring that children have access to a wide range of specialized medical services.
To further strengthen pediatric healthcare at the provincial level, each provincial-level region has been tasked with establishing a high-level hospital specializing in children's health care or a high-level pediatrics department within a comprehensive hospital by 2024. This will ensure that children have access to specialized pediatric care closer to home.
China will also enhance its 24-hour green channel and integrated pediatric services in medical institutions. This will streamline the process for children to receive urgent medical attention and ensure that they have access to comprehensive care. Furthermore, the country will expand its standardized training for pediatric resident physicians, investing in the development of highly skilled pediatric healthcare professionals.
