China's Ministry of National Defense has accused the United States of fueling tensions in the South China Sea. Spokesman Senior Colonel Wu Qian asserted that US interference is the primary cause of instability in the region.
Wu criticized the US for provoking confrontations, supporting the Philippines, and sending military vessels to the South China Sea. He emphasized that China will not tolerate US interference or military cooperation with the Philippines that undermines its sovereignty and maritime rights.
Wu also condemned the Philippines for escalating tensions by violating international law and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea. He accused the Philippines of spreading misinformation and seeking external support, warning that such actions will only harm the country.
China, according to Wu, remains committed to resolving maritime differences through dialogue and consultation while safeguarding its territorial sovereignty and maritime interests. He expressed confidence that regional cooperation will ultimately lead to a resolution of the South China Sea issue.
