Despite a slow start from the top of their order, the Dodgers' offense came alive in the late innings. Teoscar Hernandez also contributed a home run in the eighth, driving in two runs. Shohei Ohtani's double and run scored in the sixth inning provided the initial spark for the rally.
The Cardinals had taken an early lead, with Brendan Donovan and Paul Goldschmidt each driving in two runs. Steven Matz pitched into the sixth inning for St. Louis, but the Dodgers' bullpen held the Cardinals scoreless over the final four innings.
